What a lovely example of embroidery work that her friends gifted her with. What a comfort that must have been to your Grandmother. She could look at it and remember all the friends she left behind. She probably never got to see most of them again with the Great Depression just around the corner. We take for granted the ease in which we can stay in touch across distances now but it wasn't that way not so very long ago.

Oh my goodness! What a treasure. Thanks for sharing. I loved looking at that exquisite embroidery. I wish I could come close to that skill level.
