Hit yet another "junk" store today while on vacation.

This time found TWO of the attached. It's a cabinet treadle "New Home" machine. Machine's a beauty; one of the cabinets is rather shot; the other in good shape. Both were buried and stuck between so much other stuff that I could not completely open and test.

The owner wants $250 for either of them. I have never heard of a New Home.

Thoughts?

For me it would be a "pass". New Home are nice machines, and that one is really pretty, but $250 is expensive in my book!

I would have to rescue it! I've spent $250 more foolishly that this!
It's a beauty!

I have a New Home treadle - looks similar to this one.
But I have to say, I think it is too pricey.

I would grab one. I've been wanting a treadle machine for years and haven't seen any as nice as this. Some people blow $250 in one visit to the casino and have nothing to show for it. If you really want it, buy it.

New Home was the name of the company that now manufactures the Janome product.

Treadle machines are pretty common. One that needs lots of work should sell for about $50. Pristine condition could be about $200. Barter with the guy, never pay full price.

I have a new home treadle in an oak cabinet! I have been offered $1000.00 for it but I just like it too much to part with it just yet :)
