Grow up FREE mini quilt pattern
This mini quilt was made using the August Aurifil Designer of the Month Pattern by Nancy Rinks. You can find the pattern here
https://auribuzz.wordpress.com/2015/...-of-the-month/
I made some changes to the pattern because it's not in my nature to follow a pattern exactly as written.
1. I omitted the border because I didn't have any border fabric that tickled my fancy
2. It called for wool tulips, I don't do wool
3. I also omitted the hand embroidery on the applique thinking it would be just to much for they eye since the tulips are already the focal point.
I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. For those of you that know me you know I'm a real sucker for gingham and cherries. The plan was for red gingham binding but while digging through the scrap bin for the gingham I found the red stripe...YUMMY! Speaking of scraps, this entire little quilt top was made from scraps. Yes mam, all the yellow and white are tiny(what others would consider trashing) bits of scrap. The backing fabric was hard for me to cut, it's my favorite piece of cherry fabric that I've been saving for just the right project. I'm still wondering if I made the right decision, but there's no turning back now. Oh well we have to use those precious fabrics sometime.

Thanks! Nope no hand stitching on this one, everything was stitched by machine even the applique. I used mono poly thread for everything but the piecing. There's a link to the pattern in the original post above.
