A friend of mine gave me this set of blocks made in the 30s. When I received it, someone had attempted to put them together on point with three inch wide green sashing, the cornerstones were missing and it didnt lay flat. In the bag were pieces of vintage green three inch wide sashings, but they werent long enough to fit the blocks. There was another 1 yard piece of the green, uncut and enough vintage muslin for the back.

I took it apart, cut the green sashings in half to make 1 1/2 inch sashings and I am hand piecing the blocks into a nice sized quilt. There will be 1 inch sashing all the way around the outside border too.

Ill hand quilt it when its done.

Beautiful! I am sure the person who started the quilt is smiling and saying they are glad it fell in to hands that cared enough to finish it. Great job

How nice!
Some of the fabrics look exactly like the antique DP that hangs on my quilt rack, next to my bed.

When I die, I hope that someone like you finds my UFOs and cares enough to finish and love what I have started. We know how much love and time went into these vintage blocks. It would be just criminal to throw them away. Everything you are doing is making a huge improvement. Way to go.
