Handkerchiefs were the topic of conversation at our house a couple of months ago. My sister wanted to give her friend (a mother of the bride) a handkerchief for her to carry at the wedding. She shopped around and never could find a handkerchief. Some of the clerks in the stores did not know the word handkerchief. Isn't that sad. So we talked about it with the grandchildren. I pulled one out so they could see what we used before Kleenex.

I live in the middle of Amish country and there are still Hankies in the little Amish stores. Some are so pretty.

Speaking of the Amish. I'm reading a series called Sisters of the Quilt. The first two in the series were so good. Now I'm reading the third and can't put it down. They are authored by Cindy Woodsmall. #1 is WHEN THE HEART CRIES; #2 is WHEN MORNING COMES; and #3 is WHEN THE SOUL MENDS. I hate to see it end.

How fun this must have been to plan and make! I love projects that give your creative side a little room to play!

These are very pretty ... good job! I am looking forward to seeing the one with your mom on it too.

Your hankie quilts are beautiful!!! I love the buttons you use on them too--are they also old?

Those are really neat, I like the way you used embellishments.
