Default Finished My First Quilt!

So, after about 22 years, I finally finished my first quilt! Woohoo!

I have made may quilts over the years, but I never finished my first quilt. I decided to make a quilt with zero knowledge about quilting, and made so many mistakes: I used a 5/8' seam allowance, like you do with clothing, I eased all my pieces together so it bubbles up all over, I tried to use embroidery and 2" thick craft batt (set at an angle) to "quilt" it, and more. Last month, I finally pulled it out and picked out all of my "quilting", cut it down to a manageable size, and used it as the reverse side of another quilt. It was so big that I still have enough left to make another quilt, lol.

I used it as the reverse side of my Scrap In A Box Mystery Quilt:

Happily, my FMQ is improving--most of my lines are not so choppy, and my spacing is becoming more even!

both quilts are beautiful! I, too, finally quilted my first quilt - after some much needed corrections. Yours is wonderful, and filled with memories for you and your family.

It's too pretty to just be a back! Love both sides of your quilt, and the fmq is really cute, too. Congrats on your finish.
