Default Happy Mini Quilt

Like many of you I save almost all scraps. If I can put a stitch in it I save it. Eventually we need to use all of these little tidbits and morsels. So last fall I decided to start using up more of my scraps. It soon became a UFO. A couple of weeks ago while cleaning the Studio what should I find? Yep the UFO. Might as well get it done! I designed it on the fly, not really knowing how it would end. This was pieced using 1" squares which means in the quilt they are a half inch. The applique is fusible raw edge with a tiny blanket machine blanket stitch. 100 wt Invasfil thread was used for the quilting done on the DM with a walking foot. That's right, this isn't free motion. The quilt pattern was drawn on using water soluble blue marker.
What I learned while making this quilt is:

1.there's not much room for error
2.pinning is a must
3.pinning isn't easy when this small
4.I should have paper pieced for better accuracy
5.START TOSSING TINY SCRAPS IN THE TRASH!

Oh the chances of me tossing out my scraps isn't likely but I sure wish I could. It seems the more I use them the more I have. Well anyway here she is...."Sugar Pop Posies", 22 inches of quilty sweetness.

I would never have thought of combining the solid blue with the colorful scraps, but it is delightful. Wonderful job on the quilting, the applique, and using those tiny scraps.
