Default Help with borders for BWR quilt

I'm ready for borders on this quilt that I designed with EQ7. I don't know how to show what I am thinking, so I hope you understand.

What would you think of the first 2 borders (1 1/2" check and 1 1/2" dot) sewn together lengthwise, and a 3" HST (red and dot) in each of the 4 corners. Basically repeating the monkey wrench outer squares. I would then eliminate the red outer border, and just make a narrow red binding. Does this make sense? Your opinions are appreciated.

Your plans sound great. It's so pretty already, just love the use of polka dots.

I really don't think you can go wrong at this point. Either border will look fantastic.

I like what you've got, except I would make the small red square in the border Corners black. The red blends in with the outer border. JMHO.

Thanks for your quick replies. You are all the greatest. Fay, you are right about the red squares in the corner. If I do it like the picture I will change those squares to black. But I'm still not sure, so keep the ideas flowing. I'd even appreciate different ideas if you don't like either of these.

I like it the way it is, but I would also make the corner block black. I am beginning to love 2 color theme quilts more and more.

I agree to make the red corner square black and think that would do it.

Have you considered adding a narrow white flange before the red outer border? That would allow the red corner square to stand out. Just a thought.

I like it very much. I like the red blocks in the corners. It tells me it is part of the final border. It gives the final border a nice design.
