I need some quilting expertise, and this is the place to get it. I've been working on this original design with the cascading colors, and now I can't figure out how to do the edges. I'm leaning towards a piano key, but would that make it too country? Also, what do you honestly think of the quilt, I'm a big girl and can take it, but I do cry easily..I used fat quarter prepackages from JoAnn's and subsidized with my own stash. I will be top stitching each piece onto the light green material, and adding the sashing/borders. The dark material on my peach/brown bed quilt is showing up under the light green, so disregard that.

Gorgeous!!! I think I would put on a black border and then a pieced binding of the colors you have in the quilt.

My preference would be to not use a high contrasting fabric as a base and add pieced sections between each of the units.
The primary colors with dark edges is very dramatic and the light tends to take away from that.

I agree with you that a black border and then the binding made of strips of the different colors used would looks very pretty with this quilt.

I like the idea of a dark border---it is just gorgeous!

I think it is a gorgeous quilt. Very modern looking. I would mabe go ahead with the piano key but

put in a small black border.....then put a border of piano keys maybe instead of using all of the colors I would alternate between black and color ...so every other strip should be black ..and then put another black border to encase it all in....so you will just have blocks of colors around the edge of the quilt...will keep the modern look. I hhope that makes sense.

I agee with MinnieKat. A black followed by the colors. To me it has a southwest look and I love that.
