Hi Folks, As some of you know I am currently working on a Baltimore type quilt, am about 2 weeks away from finishing the center block and will need to start the next block, was going to do a watering can with Nasturtiums in it, have got watering can drawn but is a bad time of the year here for that flower (very early spring here) and am having trouble getting a good likeness of it that I can use to draw the flowers for my block from.

Have got some nice photos of daffodils for later use. anyway I was wondering if anyone would like to take some pics of suitable fowers for me I would be very grateful :D As long as no one minds me using their photos to draw from, for an original design. Have thought of gardening books in the library, but not sure where that would leave me re copyright of those photos. Also looking for some sweet peas and trumpet vine or convulvulus, if anyone can help. Thanks so much.

Have you thought of gardening flyers ? They may have some in the seed catalogs that you can enlarge.

Shelly - my big clay pot of nasturtiums are in full bloom right now. Here are 2 pics of last years but I could take whatever pics you want. Close ups? 1 flower? Different colors? Just let me know if you want any more. by the way, have you ever eaten a nasturtium? I nab one every time I go by. They are spicy yummy!!!

Yes thanks Sandra, our local garden center has given me permisson to take photos of anything they have in stock, it's just that some of the flowers I want to use are out of season here, trust me to pick ones that are out of season

Annmarie: Choice! thankyou so much, that's perfect, if I'm not being too much of a pest you couldn't get me a closeup of some leaves and maybe a bud? Thankyou so much for your help

Moonpi:Thanks for the website :-) LOts of lovely photos there, especially of the hard to find annuals. Do you know if it would be ok for me to make drawings of photos on somebody elses website, would I be infringeing a copyright. Just not sure how far this copyright thing goes :? Well silly me I could always ask their permission couldn't I

Thanks again for all your help ladies :P

I believe a copyright covers just taking the whole picture and using it. Taking inspiration from them is not the same, afterall think of all the pictures out there; and everyone who draws gets a different take on it :P

you aren't copying the photograph. you're using it as a reference to draw the flower. i guarandarntee ya the flower ain't copyrighted. The Head Gardener upstairs puts 'em here for all of us.

That's priceless Patrice, must admit I never quite thought of it like that.

Thanks for the advice folks, I really wasn't too sure and didn't want to get into any hassles over copyright.

Will get started on drawing the flowers for my next block when I have spare time at night, can't hand sew at night anymore, the needles don't have eyes at night  but can still draw.
