Default Help with sashing colors

I'm making a fishing lap quilt. My friend picked out the most wonderful burnt orange for the horizontal sashing. I made a 9-patch for between the top and bottom row of pictures. I do not have enough of the dark brown for any more 9-patches or HST. What do you think of the speckled fabric for the vertical sashing?

I prefer the dark sashing, maybe you could cut it's width in half & only use a narrow sash rather than the heavier one?

I like the white design wall and the borders on the designs better than the speckled or even the narrowing of the rust sashing to do the vertical or maybe the dark brown in the blocks!
JMHO!
Good luck it will be great however you decide to do it!

I love your blocks and that dark sashing is just gorgeous. I think that the white of the design wall may look too stark against the richness of the darker sashing. I feel that the speckled fabric eases the colours a little and does not stand out as much. You could use a darker colour and frame the speckled fabric with a 0.5cm frame all round? That may just about separate it from the blocks a little better? A pity that there isn't enough of the dark sashing to go round. Whatever you choose to do, it will look lovely! Please post when it is done. Best wishes.

Could you find a dark brown that coordinates with the rust? Have the color enough different so it looks intentional -

The speckled - in my opinion - is just too 'weak' with the other fabrics.

If you are going to use the speckled as a vertical sashing, how about putting a skinny strip of the horizontal color on each side, just enough to show where the blocks end. Or if you have any of the woodsy looking fabric like I see on the borders of some of the blocks, that would be a better vertical sashing I think. Good luck with your decision. Best stitches

The speckled fabric washes out the other fabrics. IMHO.

I don't care for the darker. I think if you used a little bit darker of the light color, May a tan or Light
brown (not to dark) would really set off the pic. That is more of the natural state of colors the animals
live in.
wonderful pic.

what about using narrow sashing with a narrow white speckled in the middle of it, like: darker stripe, white stripe, and darker stripe? I would use vertical & horizontal sashing the same, which ever color you use.
