anyone think I should take the lighter squares out??

Thanks everyone..
Yes, I think you should take out the light ones that just fade into the white background, it spoils the over-all effect. i just finished a big quilt with 84 blocks, but I had made 106. I ended up
taking out the extra light ones......! I had enough of the light ones to make a tiny light quilt. But, with the brighter colors you're using the light ones do nothing for the design.
Your colors and pattern are very, very nice, just get out those that just fade away!
I just looked at your photo again......if you squint and look at it and the block has disappeared, take it out. I see a pale pink, a cream near the pillow, and a few others that just don't "do anything" for the design. Your instinct was right on, get out the too lights.

I agree. The scrappy look is so cute on this x's and o's. Let us see it when it is done too please.

Iw love the way it looks now! If you are unsure, make a few more darker blocks and replace the really light ones. Take another photo and compare the 2 photos, then decide.

I love scrappy so I always think they are cute!! But I agree with your instincts - this pattern works best with strong contrast so take out the light ones (I'm thinking the pink one) that don't have much contrast. Keep going.....lookin' good!
