By utility quilts, I do not mean less than quality. But what I do mean is that they are everyday quilts that we use regularly while sitting and watching tv if it is cold and blustery. They are filled with Harriet Hargrave wool batting and they are warm. Lap quilt size. The blue is for boys, and the pink is for girls. The Third quilt is a locally made Amish hand quilted flower basket pattern that I loved and it followed me home, so I let it stay. It rests on one of my Cherry Quilt Racks. The fourth and fifth quilts are faithful reproductions of 2 Shaker Quilts that we saw in one of the restored Shaker Villages that we toured a few years ago. They are rather plain and not at all fancy, but they reflect the somber esthetic of the Shaker Sect, in 19th Century America.
Each of these quilts is not as dramatic as some of the ones I have done, but I love them none the less, and the Amish one is very special as it was done by a family who lives in our Area.
