Yes, the small stars are "thread only", no fabric and the big stars have fabric

The border pattern is the same as what is between the points of the stars. Not sure if that makes sense, but if you look on page 3 at the first picture (that one is actually a piece of a big star), but that is what is on each square of the border. I just alternated the colors.
