I made this hot pad spice mat this afternoon. It was a kit that I had got from a shop hop I went to on thursday. The applique stitching I did isn't very good it's only the second time I've done it being a newbie to sewing and quilting. I think it turned out ok. I would probably make more but change some of the pattern to make it easier to make. Just thought I'd share.:) Almost forgot there is a little pouch inside that holds spices so when you put your kettle or other hot item on top it lets off a nice smell.

Very cute! what are you using for the spices in it? cinnamon? cloves?

they would make great gifts..maybe a ginger breadman or a Christmas tree in the center!

I think they are cloves. I was thinking maybe a autumn themed one too with a pumpkin or leaves in the middle. Now if only I could learn to do the applique part better I'd be set lol

It turned out swell.
Remember that the more you practice, the better you will become, but your first projects will alway's mean something to you and are a reference of how far you have come. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Yes. You are doing quite nicely with your stitching, and I'm sure you'll continue to improve.

You did a great job...and it'll only improve with practice! That's the good thing about this craft!
