Thanks for your ideas and kind words. I have already straight stitched 1/4 inch around the inside of the white (embroidered) blocks. How hard would it be to echo around the embroidered fruit? And If I could, would meandering in the green squares be too much?

I think meandering on the green would be nice. I just posted today about The Quilt Show having all their shows for free on saturday. They must have started early because I have already watched a lot today. I wanted to recommend you watch show 202 (Series 2). The lady had a red work embroidery with quilting around it. I know it sounds like a huge project for someone who just started, but take a look. You may like it.

I SO need to take that class! I have no idea how to do this. I was looking for a tutorial, but couldn't find one.

All very pretty, FMQ in the plain squares, not sure on the embroidered squares, I wouldn't want to sew on top of them.

Quilts beautiful. How about a circle in the center of the green squares.

Yup... I did my first FMQ on my Downey quilts too. I'm getting better little by little and decided to go ahead and FMQ the quilt for my neice.
