I agree with the purple border and then black binding. She is going to treasure this quilt forever! It's just wonderful and will be so full of memories for her.

Yes, sashing is between the blocks. She meant to ask for help in choosing a border, not sashing. Looks like she has several ideas now.

I would have to go with a simple border..and although the purple is gorgeous--I would choose a different color to balance the whole quilt.
