Amazing work, but when looking at the picture of the entire work, in the upper right corner, it looks like batting only, is there no backing material? I'm confused by this, and fascinated!

Could you do a tute on how you do those stitches? They don't appear to be just a straight quilting stitch. Also another tute about how you do a design.
