That really is beautiful. I'm sure DIL's mother will cry when she gets it for her birthday!

She is going to be very fond of you and in your debt too!

Thanks for the kind comments. I really did enjoy making it. She is such a nice person...and she seems to love my son! Although she lives in Europe (the Ukraine for now) I always try to go down when she comes in to visit the kids. We stay at the same hotel and hang out in the mornings until they're all up and around.

I reposted this because I got to wondering if I should put some kind of quilting in the blue border. I mostly know how to straight stitch, so I didn't put any, but now I think maybe I should have.

    bj,
I would quilt the border, since you asked. My latest border technique is to just stitch two or three straight lines in the border, around and around. It's simple and quick and it looks nice when your done. My other border quilting is to stitch heart shaped leaves on a vine all the way around. Do something simple. It's such a lovely quilt it doesn't need much.

as yvonne suggested, or diagonal lines, or diamonds, or a very simple cable

    vewy, vewy pwiddy :P

i'm particularly fond of quilts that play with light and shadow.

Yeah. That's what drew me to this one. I saw one on Simply Quilts called Sunshine and Shadow. I liked it too. Kind of looked like a trip around the world, but only using 6 fabrics.

bj, that's beautiful! i love the 'woven' look and your choice of colors. i can see a little pucker in the border, so i think if it were me i'd probably quilt in there.

Oh, bj, thats absolutely gorgeous and you did a wonderful job on it. As
for the border, just the stitching as suggested, to hold it down. :-o
