Here's the 50th birthday quilt for dil's mom. Seems like I've been working on it forever. It has over 1000 pieces in it. Thank goodness for strip piecing! I was wondering...before I send it to her, should I have quilted in the blue border?

Beautiful!
Over 1000 pieces! Wow! Now, be sure to not mention the strip piecing bit. Let them think you cut out each individual piece of fabric.
I'm sure that quilts going to be much loved!

It's one I saw on Fons and Porter. The block didn't have a specific name, but the show was coordinating light, medium, and dark fabrics. I liked it because it looked like a lattice and my two main fabrics were florals. There are ten different strip pieces for the ten different rows in the block. Each piece is 2 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches, except 5 of the rows begin and end with a half-piece to get the diagonals going.
