Default Ice House

This is my 12 x 12 for April. Our letters for inspiration were H and/or I.......

It's hard to hurry inspiration! A few weeks ago I was taking some photos...night shots...after the rain. It was then the idea hit me, at the very moment the background became blurry. BOKEH. The Japanese term for blur or haze. As my imagination ran wild, irridescent hues danced in the night sky. They became brighter and cooler....COLD....
I made some initial notes and headed home. I wanted to incorporate some inchies in my 12 x 12 . They later turned into "half inch hexies". To continue with a Japanese theme I included three original haiku's in larger hexagons. The coolness of the colors led me to the title of the quilt and set the overall tone. "ICE HOUSE" Hopefully, after reading the poems the title will make sense.

Very artistic and I like the process of the creation of this 12" by 12" piece. Thank you for sharing.

It does look cold and icy. Great effect. I love the background of the weathered boards for your photo.
