Default inspired to make scrappy quilt

I have seen so many scrappy quilts shown here on the forum that I finally had to sit down and do it!

This is going to be a generous lap size quilt. I am foundation piecing it on muslin and batting and backing it with whatever I find in my stash. My question is how have others of you quilted your string quilts? I do plan to do it on my DM and am just curious as to how to quilt this particular piece. Thanks for any help.

I have one right now that SHOULD be finished because i need it for Sunday the 12th. I am just using a loopy all over design because of all the straight lines. I haven't finished it because i wanted to use a bright verigated thread, but it's size 20, which is very thick and i can't get the tension right using it in the bobbin too. I am at the lake house so do not have my thread stash here. Going home today though, so when it is finished I will post a picture. It looks very similar to yours.

I am real eager to see your quilt when you are finished! I know what you mean by getting the tension right. My machines really like poly thread and when I want to use varigated thread I have to play awhile to get it right.

I am sorry for not saying so before, this is in response to Sewmom, thanks

I made a rag quilt . . . . . . once. That was enough for me. I found the cutting afterwards a bit tedious. Yet, I love tedious in other projects! So, hats off to you for loving rag quilts!

I can't believe it, my scrap strips are multiplying instead of diminishing! (It might be because I keep cutting more strips!) I love making these blocks. My DGD is here for a summer visit and she loves all things of China. I have some Oriental fabrics that I am thinking of stripping and putting together for her. Ya'all might have helped create a monster . . . .at least here on my sewing room floor!
