Default Jelly Roll Race Finish

During the summer I posted on the board about the prospect of having my neighbor girls help me during our guild's jelly roll race using my Singer 301. Well, the race was great fun with a 4 year old, 8 year old, and 10 year old helping. They took turns sewing (the 4 year old was on my lap), cutting at the end of the runs, and untwisting ahead of the sewing. We came in 4th place, but as one of the girls said, "If they had judged on quality, we would not have placed."

She was right. I had multiple open seams to repair. In addition, the cutting resulted in a very jagged edge and narrower top than expected. As you can see in the picture, I added a couple of strips vertically to add width. All in all, it turned out ok. Everyone had a wonderful time!

What a "memory quilt" you have to enjoy!!!
I bet the girls will want to come for visits and snuggle into it with you.

The important thing is that they had fun with the project and surprised you that they knew where the quality could improve. ... Looks like you have some new quilters ready to make another one with you again soon.

I like your unique twist with the added side strips.

I love your quilt and I love it even more that you had the help of these girls to get it done! Sounds like so much fun!

What wonderful memories for those little girls!! I am sure they will never forget. Planted seeds can grow to huge tree's, one day they may become avid quilters. Love their quilt!!

What fun. A beautiful quilt with all the wonderful memories. Lots of laughing and hugging on the way.

Who cares about quality when (1) you can fix it and (2) you had so much fun!
