Default Jungle Abstractions quilt: The Lion

This quilt was a real challenge for me. I am ready to toss it in the trash. When I am really frustrated by a quilt it gets thrown in a closet for a few months until I am ready to take it out of "time out" and look at it again. This one is heading to that closet.

Pattern is Jungle Abstractions - The Lion by Violet Craft. It is paper pieced and quilted on my DSM.

I have never done any quilting accept SID, so I learned a lot about tension issues and the challenge of keeping lines straight. Squaring up a quilt with no blocks was also a first for me. I'm still not sure it is very square, but it is done and I am moving on.

Last pic is of my backyard, I love the summer flowers.

This is a handsome quilt! I think you did a great job and the design is cool, to get all the shadings and shape of the face…
Good for you to tackle something this complicated!

Your lion quilt is stunning! The eyes really draw me in. I've had quilts that got the "time out" closet. It happens, and then I have a change of heart--or not--and by pure grit finish her and then love her when she's all quilting and bound and washed.

Your backyard looks like a plot of paradise!

Elise! This looks finished! Even bound! It's amazing and you should not time out it!

oh wow! Amazing quilt. It may have frustrated the snot out of you, but gosh how beautiful it turned out. You've got guts, I can't paper piece at all.
