Made the wall hanging here as a thank you gift to my cousin for letting me and my sisters have an annual week away at the place..I made the basic hanging then everyone chipped in to bring buttons, embroider flowers, etc. Sorry the pic is blurry.

Oh yes, this is fantastic. Very clever indeed. A lot of lovely ideas - and fine details. Can keep you entertained for quite a while trying to spot something new you did not see a second ago.....
Are you kidding-that is so beautiful!
will look so great in the cabin! what a sweety!
This is the cutest thing ever! Did you start by using a photograph of the cabin for inspiration? I just love it. We have a cabin on the coast - wanna use it?
That is such a wonderful gift!
yes, I took a photo from the end of the dock and used it as the basic design idea. picked colors out of the scraps and fat quarter baskets and just started working on it. Dock is a little out of proportion, but all in all it looks like his place. I used tulle for screening material on the upper deck, shimmery organza for windows and doors to show reflection of light, added some extra batting behind some of the trees and did each of them different shapes and quilting with raw edges.Originally Posted by mom2boyz
Then we all had fun adding embellishments - hummingbird charm since he has lots of them around the place, goose down hand stitched on the lawn because he's got those too, grass fabric with black dots to remind him of the goose droppings all over the place (even embroidered some on the dock!), stick from the property for a fishing pole on the dock, embroidered flowers, more charms for birds in trees, turtle sunning on the rocks, etc.
Edges are really straighter than the photos show and it does look good on the wall at his place.
WOW! What a treasure!
