I would lighten the belly up to soft orange. I think that is what a brown bird is supposed to look like. I used to live in Rabun Gap, Ga and I've seen lots of birds. I think it would look nice. The way it is already sewn, is nice too. The bird is so cute and the rest of the design is good for Christmas.

Beautiful applique block! I love your choice of color. This may be the little brown bird which I take to mean the English wren. Since you do such lovely shading, you might want to shade his little belly. There are some good art sketches of this wren on google.
