Default I don't know where I went wrong??

Hi, I thought before I tackled getting started on the full sized quilt I am going to make for my daughter I would buy fabric to make a little wall hanging.....I thought I was so careful in my cutting and sewing, but as you can see in my picture...OBVIOUSLY NOT!!

Instead of throwing this out and starting again, I thought I would use this as a way to start to practice machine quilting....I have only ever done tied quilts......so I am looking for a few suggestions on how to quilt it...remember TOTAL BEGINNER....

I could just sew a great big button in the center to hide my mistakes as use it a the dogs placemat or something.....but no I will just use this as a learning tool.....

First off, the center doesn't look that bad in the picture, but if you are not happy with it now you never will be so practicing is a great idea.

Do you have a walking foot? If so, you could try some simple straight line quilting. Maybe echo quilting. That might be a good place to start if you've never tried anything. SID always sounds easy, but to me, really isn't.

You could put an applique circle in the middle too or a yo yo and still use it as a wallhanging. Even with a button it would be cute as a hanging.

Well, I can't see a thing wrong with it. From your button comment, I'm guessing that the center seams don't meet your expectations, but with your color choices, it's not obvious! Had you chosen fabrics for the star with a much higher contrast there may have been an issue, really it's just fine!

As far as FMQ, here's a great place to start:

It looks very nice! Quilter's " rule"... If you don't see the problem while driving by 20 feet away...don't worry about it. Or...I let folks see my stuff from 20 feet, for 20 seconds, with no bifocals! People sitting at your table are not going to see what you consider an" error". Quilt On!

I don't see anything wrong and I've looked three times. You say you are a beginner, so if it is the center points bothering you, go ahead and put a button there and never mention it again. Those points can be tricky for all quilters. Do not give it to the dogs! Put it on the wall be proud that you have completed it. This was a lesson for you and now you know what to be aware of next time. Onward! You did a great job.

Quilt it and then turn it into a pillow! It will look perfect as a pillow.

I think it is really pretty and agree with Sapphire, you should hang it and be proud of finishing it. A friend told me that an imperfect finished project is still better than a perfect UFO!
