This is my 12 x 12 for the month of June. Our letters for inspiration were L and M.....a bunch of words come to mind when I look at this mini quilt.....here are a few for starters...how many more can you come up with?
    lost love
    lavender
    misery
    locked away

Meloncoly (I know I spelled that wrong)
    Memories
    Locked

This is an amazing art quilt. Would you elaborate on the techniques used?

I started with white 200tc cotton.....found a picture of a master lock on the morquefile website. I sketched the boards and lock using "Inktense" Pencils made by Derwent company,. They are like colored pencils except the "colors" are INK. You activate the pigments with water or aloe gel (clear aloe gel) and the colors BLOOM like magic. when they dry they are permanent because it is ink. There are videos on youtube showing how to use these.....Then I looked through my stash and found an oriental print with these lovely lavender flowers, the background fabric with lines of writing on it, and also found this lovely little girl.....used LSAS2 (light steam a seam 2) to fuse the applique pieces down and finally did a lot of free motion quilting to add depth and texture.....

love it! you did a great job. The lock that say's mine reminds me of a virgin or virginity and her distant look makes me think that she is day dreaming of how perfect love is before it has been experienced. Unknown loves. Perfect love, Daydreamers diary, Pure of heart. Funny how everyone see's something different. Your very talented. thanks for sharing.

Your girl looks a lot like Bottichelli's Birth of Venus.... which kind of adds another layer to the "Lost Love" title. This is gorgeous and thank you for explaining how you did this. I've got some inktense pencils that may have to split comic coloring duties with quilt coloring.
