Default Lynnie's Asian Sampler

Lynnie sent this. She made it as a gift to her son. It is so beautiful.
I love the color pallet, the different techniques used to make the blocks and the overall feel of this quilt.
Beautiful job!
I just added textures..many of them were designs that were in the fabrics. Clamshells, orange peels, water, echoing ect.
I used a gold thread to quilt and hobbs polydown batting.
Thanks so much for looking.
Charisma

Wow, looks awesome.
thank you so much Charisma.
The kanji symbol, in black mean: strength, longlife, double happiness and prosperity.
the Koi fish symbolizes male strength in blue and black, and swimming upstream means overcoming an adversity in life.
He loves his bonsai also. some of the other symbols are special to him.the back has a lantern on it for light in dark times. I used Asian fabrics and found a lot to be blueish and masculine.I did EPP on the hexes and added some browns to the brickwork and the EPP hexes. thanks for looking. and a super big thanks to Charisma for adding life to my quilt. It's for my son's 25TH birthday.

Oh forgot, the lotus flower grows from murky, muddy beginings. I chose the flower over the cherry blossom
b/c Ryan overcame a lot of adversity And this symbolizes coming out on the bright side of things.

Both of you did wonderfully. I also appreciate the statement of the meanings.

Lynnie you did a great job piecing the quilt. I love the colors and you even added the hexies. Charismah did a great job on the quilting. Your son is going to love it. Well done girls
