Some of you will recognize the fabric in this basket...it's from scraps left over from a couple of pillows and a bed runner that I made for a "mini-makeover" for our guest room. Well not too long ago someone posted some beautiful baskets made from clothesline and fabric...so of course I thought I'd give it a try. I did it just for the fun of it. It's a little tedious (though not difficult at all) but the end result is so cute I'm thinking I may have just stumbled onto what I'm going to make for Christmas for some of my friends. What do you think...would baskets like this make nice gifts? blessings, Karen

Very cute! did you need to add wire to the handle to make it stand up? I can see that you sewed the 2 yellows together, then wrapped with the pink. I've tried to make these before but was not happy with the results. i think mine were too big. This one is really sweet!

Great basket. And I like the details on the handle.

Did you just sew the handle to the basket, or is there some other way to attach it in the construction process?

Actually I didn't add wire. I thought about it after I wrapped the pink around it and then added the beads...thought it would be too heavy but it worked out okay. I did notice however that sewing all the yoyo's on it at the base of the handle did seem to strengthen them. Also, the beads DO have light wt. jewelers wire strung through them. (the kind you use to make necklaces).
