    Default Memory quilt

A close friend and coworker lost her partner and I made this memory quilt for her. He was a dairy farmer, as his father before him. I was given his work (favorite) shirts to use and as I worked on this quilt, I could feel the hot sun, smell hay, it was a moving experience for me. I was going to add some solid color fabrics, but with some input from QBers, did not as it may take away from the sense of it being his shirts.
I was not sure how to handle all the stripes and plaids, but hoped that the border quilting will bring some continuity overall. Also, include three shirt pockets. I hope the quilt will bring her some comfort.

Your quilt brought tears to my eyes-the smell of sunshine & hay. I come from a background of dairy farming and plaid shirts. What a comfort to your friend!!

It turned out great! It looks like a good snuggly kind of quilt. I'm sure it will be a nice comfort for her.
