This quilt was an experiment in reverse applique. I put the orange for the butterflies down first, then I put black over the top. I appliqued around the outside of the black, capturing the orange inside. Then I cut slits and opened up the wings. I know it's hard to see, but the white spots are seed beads that I added after the quilt was finished. The little things in the middle are the cocoons. I call this quilt "Metamorphosis".

wow. That's just amazing! I think you should send it to my house for a closer inspection and it might just get lost in the mail on the way back *wink* lol

This is a very beautiful quilt. The colors are vibrant and make the butterflies appear like they could fly off the cloth. Great workmanship. Thank you for sharing.
