This is my new DIL's wedding quilt. She said she liked peach, aqua/turquoise, and purples. I added a deep blue as well. Sorry it's not closer so you can see the fabrics better, but you can get the idea. I used a lot of batiks and the border and inner strips were the Hoffman batik that was showcased in last Spring's Shop Hop in our area. It was machine quilted with an all-over design. The pattern was taken from the book French Braid Quilts by Jane Hardy Miller. I'll definitely be making one of these for myself. :)

Just beautiful. And unique - I don't think I've seen a pattern like that before. I'll have to check out that book. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Much appreciated. :)

It really is a fun pattern to work with. The biggest challenge is fabric selection, but it really was a lot of fun choosing. You have to go from a light value to a dark value AND from color to color at the same time, and it's sometimes difficult to find that perfect transitional fabric to make that change, but who doesn't like a fabric challenge? If I'd been in a quilt store I wouldn't have had so much trouble, but I took all of it from my stash. I had a full week of fun going through just about everything I own. LOL Next time, I'll do it from a wider selection, aaaannnd, I won't have the mess to clean up after I'm done selecting. Fabric was EVERYwhere :P
