Here is my first try at applique. I really enjoyed making this for my DH as a special Valentine wallhanging. I still have to quilt and bind, but I'm so proud of myself for trying, I love how it turned out. How would you quilt this?? I haven't tried FMQ yet and I'm not sure about stitching in the ditch on this one. What do you think? You can't see the stitching, but I stitched around all of it using a blanket stitch on my machine with matching thread.

I would quilt around the appliques, and just fill in either a cross-hatch in the background, or a stipple. If you aren't confident with FMQ on machine, can you hand-quilt?? Stipple would be easy enough to hand-quilt. Or, just machine a cross hatch, SID the applique and around the border. How about adding a heart applique in two opposite corners of the border???? Just a thought. It is really cute-I'm sure he will love it!!
