Oh my - that looks so much like the treadle I got from my grandmother (the incidentally my daughter sold at a yard sale before her father and I knew it....). Enjoy - it's beautiful and a wonderful treasure.
I use all of my treadle machines. I think its fun and relaxing to use a treadle, I can hear the TV while I'm sewing. The machine you see in my avatar is a 1936 Singer 201K, sews a beautiful stitch and is very quiet. I also have 3 other Singer treadles, model 66-1 red eye,1949 model 15-90 and 1965 zig zag model 237. I think its fun to sew with people powered machines, still amazed that I have a machine that is 101 years old that still sews such a beautiful stitch. My favorite 9 year old friend says that she just loves using the 201k as a hand crank, she's learning to make quilt blocks.Originally Posted by peggy463

1936 Singer 201K was born a hand cranked machine, I like it better as a treadle.

Oh, my goodness! She's breathtaking! I'm so jealous. I've been wanting a treadle SO BAD. Have a friend who told HER friend that I was looking for one and her friend said she has one she'll GIVE to me! Now I'm dying--because it's Arizona, in the Summer and she has gone to the mountains for a few weeks to beat the heat! I'm holding my breath til she gets back, and hoping she won't forget!
The other good thing is that I know her, and knowing her, if she has it in her home, it's in very good condition and beautiful! I can't wait!
