Several of you have requested to see my avatar in its entirety, so here it is.

The quilt measures 31 1/2 by 33. The background is made from the instructions in Ricky Tims' book, Convergence Quilts. Underneath that bird, the pattern seemed too checkerboard-ish to suit me, so I cut the bird from a piece of Oriental fabric I had around and fused and machine appliqued it on with invisible thread.

The botanical border, well, I got really lucky there. I found fabric in my stash that was absulutely perfect with the middle, and the orange was something I already had too. I like adding borders which are not even on all sides.

This little hanging is hand quilted, diagonally throughout the pieced part, which is meant to be air currents which my bird is flying through, and around the fabric motifs in the borders.

The poor crane has no quilting, as it is too thick from the fusible to hand quilt and I'm still learning to FMQ. When I get good enough not to ruin it, I will machine quilt in its feathers.

Beautiful! I received that Ricky Tims book as a gift, but didn't like his style at the time, so put it on the shelf-I think I will get it out and take another look at it! I LOVE what you did with the bird-I think that made a boring pattern striking!

Wonderful quilt! The convergence quilting method you used is perfect for the background!
