Here are 2 more bags that are on the smaller/larger mother and daughter look alike theme. They differ only in the liners are different color and of course the size. They were for my wife and while we don't have any daughters, or sons for that matter, thematically they would work for the proposed purpose.
They both have exterior pockets for cell phones or whatever. The insides are clear and unencumbered. A late addition is the Daddy messenger bag. No exterior pockets but interior pockets that surround the bottom.

Everything I do, is of my own design. I have never worked off of a pattern. I seem to have the ability to look at something and instantly know how it is put together and can pretty much duplicate what I see. That applies to woodworking and carpentry. I think it is called high mechanical aptitude, in the scholastic aptitude test lingo. I think I am blessed in that regard.
