I finally got around to putting my doll quilts up. They were going to go in the living room where the walls are country blue but I want to put up Christmas decorations today so I decided to brighten up my bathroom. It is seen from the kitchen so we see them all the time. It really adds a punch of color to my white bathroom! My DH and I compromised when I painted. I love color and my living room is a country blue and my kitchen is a 1950s red so I promised him I would paint the bathroom white. But I hate white so I am so pleased to be able to add some color! He doesn't dislike it. He likes the quilts but thought I should have made more of an effort to clean the cobwebs!! LOL ( I did clean them after he saw the display!!!) :lol: :lol: :lol:

I took pics of the quilts and then a pic of the wall to the right and then a pic where I was standing in the kitchen so you can see the whole effect we see when we go into the kitchen.

I love it! I also added one of my favorite angels in the middle for a little more interest.

I had to hang Rachael's over the spots that need a paint touch up. I need to get those spots painted. I pulled a shelf unit out when we got the washer / dryer this summer and I just keep putting off doing the touch up.

LOL Loretta DH and I have argued over that ladder many times! It wasn't attached to the wall in any way and if you hit it it would tip. The light switch is behind the towels and you have to reach behind for the switch. so it would start to fall. One time it fell over on one of the little grands and my sink is opposite and it stopped the ladder from hurting him but I had to figure out how to wire the ladder so it wouldn't fall anymmore and still have room to put the towels in and out! LOL I finally figured out how. I love my ladder. I have a shorter white one too I used in the living room. As I moved it around I didn't want to attach it so after the kids tipped it over several times I retired it back out to the barn for storage for right now.

Great display, Rhonda, and even thought you don't like the white bathroom, it makes your house very patriotic!

Oh yeah I wanted to explain my shelf. I bought two dressers at a yard sale for $5 each. The taller one I painted and used in my living room and then the other shorter one I left outside in the rain and snow for two years to weather it. When it was falling apart I pulled the pieces apart and stored them. This shelf is the front part of that dresser. It is weathered and has marks of old age and I love the distressed and used look of it. I am into primitives and this is an inexpensive way to decorate. Then the jars are little apothecary jars and they hold my button collection.The box with the red poinsettias holds handkerchiefs that belonged to my great grandmother Nancy. The oil lamps are three of DHs 40 plus collection and these three we use in bad storms so they are kept with oil in them. The middle one I bought at a friends yard sale for $2 several years ago. It is worth about $65 in an antique shop.

That looks great. Hmmm . . . you've given me a couple of fantastic ideas: what to do with my bathroom wall upstairs and what to do for a towel rack for the basement lav. WOO HOO

:mrgreen: Yeah Lesley we have talked about that!! I go more for the burgandy in the living room but my DH collects all sorts of Coke and Pepsi stuff and we have an old chest type Pepsi pop machine in our living room and I used the colors off of it for my colors so it wouldn't stand out like a sore thumb! But I just love the traditional country blues greens and burgandys. Some of my shelves in the dining room side of my living room are painted celery green. One shelf came that way. Then I have an antique stove there that is cream and light green so it takes a way a little of the red/white/and blue feeling!! Not that r/w/b is a bad thing!

LOL Good idea not to bonk anybody with the ladder!!!! LOL
I put a screw in the wall and just used a piece of wire around a metal fitting on the ladder and then wound the wire to the screw in the wall. If your ladder is too close to the wall just give alittle more leeway in your wire for the ladder to move a bit. I tip ours forward just a bit to put towels in the back shorter half of the ladder. My other ladder doesn't have a second half so it is alittle harder to attach.

And one thing I haven't convinced DH to remember yet - when you fold the towels -they stay on the rungs of the ladder better if you fold them lengthwise first instead of into a square shape. The length makes it easier to get them to stay on. I fold once over the long way and then lay them on the rung.
