This is my first attempt at an OBW. I've been obsessed with this process for months now and after doing one I can see why. Its so interesting to see what happens as the cuts are made and then displayed. Although it took me awhile to complete (the border isn't done yet) I really learned a lot and will do another one at some point.

This is my first time posting a picture so I hope it works.

Starting the placement

Almost done - not really. (How do you like my design wall?) lol

Okay I think I'm done! Only the border left.

Here is a sample of the original fabric. I forgot to take a picture before I started cutting. (Another lesson learned).

I love this, do you have a pic of the main fabric. I'm struggling with choosing this.... great job, and thank you so much for sharing.

That's really neat. Love the colors and the way you placed the blocks.

Don't shortchange yourself.

It's VERY successful - great contrast in color and value, and interesting shapes give it a lot of movement.

And I really like the way it blends from the black lower left corner to the light upper right. The orange is peaking out here and there to add some pop. It's great.

love it! How much rearranging does it take to get an OBW looking so great or does it just fall into place?

To answer your question about placement. Honestly it took so long to cut the strips, cut, sew and iron the hexagons and finally get everything on the design wall (phew) that the placement was really easy. I did make mistakes, but I like to keep all the same colors together and have them kind of move into other colors etc. Does that make sense?

Like I said, I look at this one as a "learning experience" and when I make another one (already have the fabric) I really hope it looks a lot better. I was really "over it" by the time I got a far as I did. Hence no border yet. lol

Thanks so much for your kind remarks. Susan
