I am using a free pattern from www.quilterscache.com for my first.

My daughter, Sue, wanted pink, black, and white. Her boyfriend, Brian, is an airplane mechanic so of course he wanted planes.

I got lucky and found this pattern called Lone Eagle.

Great job! I love the color combo, are you going to make more and make a quilt?

Yes, I have 10 blocks made now in the pink w/black dots, black w/pink dots, zebra, and a pink flowered print. I have bought several more pink, black, and white prints to make another 10 or 20 blocks. I don't know what size it will be when I finish. I just wanted to make a lap quilt. However, my daughter wants a big lap quilt so there is room for her Lab, Daisy, too. (All 100lbs of her!)
