Fabulous quilt! I haven't made a string quilt yet, but I will keep in mind the Pellon 830. Your niece is a lucky girl.

I love this string quilt. The yellow usage was the perfect finishing touch.

Your niece will love love this. I really like the soft warm yellow. I bet you had alot of fun collecting all the blacks and whites. They really look nice together. Will you tell us how you did this block using the interfacing? I really like the look of this. I thought string quilts were little tiny strips. This is such a nice looking quilt.

I cut the Pellon into 10" squares, so each block finishes at 9 1/2". On each square, I first drew a line diagonally from corner to corner. My yellow lattice strips were 1 1/2" wide. I wanted the yellow strips to match up, so I used a ruler and marked 2 more lines, each 3/4" on either side of the center diagonal line so I had the placement of the yellow strips. I put each yellow strip (face up) between the lines. I cut all the black and white print fabrics into strips of various widths: the narrowest ones were 1 3/4", 2", 2 1/2" and the widest was about 3". ( At the advice of several members here, I used the widest strips on the far outside corners since that is where the seams build up when the blocks are sewn together. ). The first B&w strip is placed face down on the yellow one, and sew through the two strips and the Pellon. Press the strip open, and repeat by sewing another strip on top of the last until the Pellon foundation square is covered. Then I flipped the block over, and rotary cut all the strip edges off next to the Pellon square. The Pellon stays on and the blocks are sewn together to assemble the quilt. really quite easy. It was a fun process, and I look forward to making more! Let me know if you have other questions.

You are fast! Thank you for these instructions. You are a great teacher. I'm going to try one of these when I'm feeling better. Thanks again.
