Thank you to all who helped me choose from among the Robert Kaufman stripey batiks that I posted on this thread: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-62828-1.htm
I have in my hands some actual samples, which made it clear which ones are the "winners" and how I should bundle them for FQs. As it turns out, they naturally fall into groups of threes... except for the red, which is nice but doesn't relate to any of the others.
(In case you're wondering what happened to "primary"... in person the colors are a little "whacked out". If they'd stuck to just red-orange-yellow it would have been fine, but the addition of just a little red, turquoise, and blue just seemed "off topic".
For all of these, the stripes run horizontally, and the colors seem to repeat more or less every 10" or so. And while we'll be sticking to our 1/4 yard minimum cut, I think that 1/2 yard cuts would be a better choice so that you get the full repeat of all the colors.
Here come the pictures again, plus comments on which ones play well with each other.

pacific - good with emerald and caribbean

evening - good with pansy, autumn and possibly harvest and caribbean. Color is a bit smokier than it appears here.

red - pretty but a loner

caribbean - good with emerald, pacific, and possibly evening. The deeper tones are actually a blue-violet, and the greens shade through jade.

pansy - good with purple and evening

harvest - good with pumpkin, purple, autumn and maybe evening

Our price will be $8.50 / yard (which is quite competitive).
