Last weekend my 5 year old granddaughter, Katelyn, spent the night with us. Saturday morning we went to the quilt shop and she picked out a charm pack of 30s reproduction fabrics that she liked. When we got home she went right to her sewing machine--anxious to get started.

She spread all her fabrics out on the floor so she could start matching up the ones she wanted to sew together.

She knows right where to line her fabric up and she guides it through the machine

I gave her a tiny pair of really sharp scissors to clip her threads

I love this little hand on the fabric

What fun to be sewing with your GD. Reminds me of sewing with my DD's when they were that age. Will be looking forward to seeing her next picture with the top done!

last

later I went back into my quilt room and found out that she had laid her sewn pairs of blocks out on the floor, just like my URR quilt, not too far away

That is so so so so cute. I love the little hand shot--and that she laid her squares out like yours. The whole scene just makes me feel all warm inside--and makes me look forward to having a grandchild. Kennedy will do for now.
