Here's a picture of mine:

My hubby took a piece of plywood and I covered it with the batting for hot stuff and then with material. It was on top of my regular ironing board but when my son moved back in I needed to move it out into our family room. My hubby then built the cabinet under it.
I like the door idea too, great!
