Hi guys. I read the boards all of the time, and have never posted. I just finished this thing, which is huge. It is a black and white trip around to world. It is a king size, and as you can tell, it takes up the biggest part of my biggest floor space. I need to baste it next. Any suggestions on where to go or what to do to get enough room to do this? Thanks.

Clear the decks, that is very pretty! Nice work! I'm sure you'll enhance it even more!

That is one beautiful quilt! Try your local library, lots of times they have a meeting room where the tables can all be pushed together. Our church does a day every month, where the women's groups get together in the hall and we can baste to our heart's content.

Could you take it apart and make maybe 3 or 4 parts and then quilt and reattach. It would be less bulky. I did one and quilted diagnally thru the square following your pattern. Start with the 1st square in the middle. Then quilt thru the the next group of same fabric color. Your quilted area will continue to grow larger as you go.

That really is stunning. I'd have to move my dining room furniture into my kitchen to get that much floor space :) ! Good luck. You might see if your community center or library has an area where you can work on a project like that. Our guild has a work night at the Bernina store here once a month. You might check into something like that.

Robbit, BJ took the words that first came to my mind when she said "stunning" what a beautiful quilt! You did a great job. Are you going to try to machine quilt it, or hand quilt?

I think I will machine quilt it. I am not very brave yet. I followed some stencil patterns with my daughter's quilt, but this is really big. I will probably straight-line stitch down the middle of the blocks in a diamond pattern, and pick a nice stencil to do on the borders. I am not a hand quilter. That takes too much attention to detail. I need faster results than that, or I will never finish it ( I just know me, I have tried to hand stitch before, and they are still unfinished after like 9 years, lol)

Also, I was thinking just plain white thread. I know that seems very bright and stark, but I think it will go well with the rest. What do y'all think?

I would use maybe white on white, black on black, then find 2 or 3 shades of grey.
