    Default Memory Quilt

    Hi,

A lady at our church recently lost her husband of many many years. She was donating his clothing and I asked if she would like for me and another lady to make her a memory quilt. She said yes so here are a few pictures of what we came up with:
They both loved to travel to Hawaii to visit their 2 sons so there were quite a few Hawaiian shirts. My friend made a pineapple applique pattern. We took 1 of the shirts that had lots of green leaves on it for the tops of the pineapples. I machine appliqued them on blocks and my friend did the sashing and put the blocks together. I pieced the back using shirts that the man had that had special embroidery on them. I then quilted it using a stiple around the pineapples, some meandering ribbons with leaves on the sashing and cross quilting on the pineapples. I see lots of errors but my DH said he loves it...

Wow!! What a great quilt. Perfect memories for the family. Not only were they his shirts, but she'll be able to remember all the places in Hawaii they went to together. It's a beautiful quilt.
