YES,definitely go through a quilt shop/sew and vac because they will give you the best deal,warranty, free tune up/parts for at least a year. The place I shop at does a 10% discount too for fabric if you buy a machine from them. You cannot go wrong:)

I bought it from the friend privately, though, so I didn't get the above perks, but like I said the price was sooooo right and seller very knowledgeable about her machine;)

That is what happened to me with the Brother 1500D. My friend was getting another machine and was gad to let me have her old one for $1500. With all the things with it plus lots of extras as well as over 1,000 embroidery pattens on CDs. You are just lucky like me to have a good friend.
