My mother-in-law is not a quilt person and on a recent trip to the farm I found this treasure from the past in the garage. In the 23 years I've been going to the farm I have never seen a quilt anywhere. The quilt was folded with the top out and there is some sun damage and some of the appilque needs to be reattached. My MIL told me the quilt was made around 1935 as a fund raiser for the United Methodist with members paying to have their name on it and then it was raffled off. My husband grandmother was the lucky winner.

What a great treasure you have there! Isn't it amazing the things that have been appreciated by some and then not appreciated and hidden away by others! Maybe the church ladies would enjoy seeing the quilt again!

My MIL used to bring the quilt up to church for special functions and had asked them several times if they would like it. They declinded her offer. She is 91 yrs old and doesn't make it to church every Sunday like she used to so out in the garage it went. She was going to throw is away until I claimed it.
