I actually am using more scraps now - since I know what's in there and they're all color-coded. I can pull out a chunk of a certain color and use it up!
Before I didn't want to dig through the stack and have to deal with cramming it all back in there.
I wound up with an entire extra bin of fabric that was a 1/4 yard or more that didnt' belong in the scrap bin! I'll try to take a picture of the rest of my work area tonight and post it here so you can see my chaos!

I have a box for non-specific fat quarters, a box of almost fat quarters (not quite 18x22 but I haven't cut them down yet), a box of 30's repro fqs, a box of civil war repro fqs, a box of small scraps, and a box of mediums.
And I can throw away pieces if they're too small!
