Darren (Wesing) asked that I post some pictures of my avatar quilt for him to see, so here they are. The first two are the quilt in my avatar, which is on my bed, and the third is another one that I did for my grandson a few years ago. His has a lot of the same fabrics, but the borders are different. It is my favorite pattern. This is a variation of the Storm at Sea pattern, the difference being the four patch center of the main block.

I like the optical illusion of the side view.

That's what's neat about this pattern, although it doesn't show as much in the photos. All the piecing is straight lines, yet when you look at what you see are curves. It's really cool.

Judy -

Thanks so much for posting. This is my favorite pattern. I'm not there yet, but someday I will make one. Yours are beautiful.

Go for it Darren. They aren't hard at all since it's all straight seams. Like I mentioned somewhere, piecing the diamond was the hardest, and on the second quilt, I paperpieced it, which made it a snap. I've seen your work, you can do it.
